Swandrome Cross — Sunday, October 11, racing at 11:00 am
Special kids’ race starting 10:00 am
It was raining and slimy last night. Apparently that is optimal for ‘cross enjoyment, as about 20 people showed up again for ‘cross practice. I would guess that between bikes and riders’ bodies about 20 pounds of topsoil were removed from site….
Hopefully we will have some dry weather in the next week or so in order that the tracks firm up a bit before the SWANDROME CROSS event takes place. Sunday Oct. 11 will be the annual Swandrome ‘Cross race. This year we are not making it part of any series, and not any sort of championship, and in fact, it is not even USCF sanctioned. This means that riders don’t need licenses to be able to race and entry fees will be minimal ($10) in order to cover the cost of food and porta-johns. Entry will all be day-of-race, so you don’t have to gamble on the weather or other vagaries of life with online deadlines etc. Just show up Sunday morning (Oct.11) pay your money, and play !
An addition to the schedule will be a kids race starting at 10:00AM (that’s before the main event which is scheduled at 11:00). This event is free and we’ll figure out details of length and exact course around the yard and field when we see who is there. Parents’ suggestions are welcomed to make this as much fun as possible.
For list-lurkers from other clubs, please spread the word about this event to your clubs. Some of the hard-core guys will no doubt be planning to drive to Rochester or New England, but for those who prefer local and fun, come to Ithaca.
We’ll get a race flyer with more details up ASAP. See map of location.

Niels Albert is the best cyclocrosser of the moment. I saw him ride in Overijse last weekend!
